When Model Jessica Stam Dyed Her Hair, She Switched Up Her Style

The Canadian model is certainly not a newcomer, but after Jessica Stam darkened her locks earlier this year, her style seemed to take a dramatic turn. She’s been making her presence felt for years now, and Marc Jacobs was so impressed he named a handbag after her. In the past, Jessica has tended to favor more straightforward feminine looks without considerable edge.

Jessica occasionally attempted to shake up her wardrobe, like when she wore this gray Gareth Pugh Spring 2010 dress back in November 2009 to the New York City screening of The Twilight Saga: New Moon. Paired with the runway's open-toe lace up booties, it was almost too much for the model to pull off. When she selected a white Givenchy with gold embellishment for an April 2010 reception celebrating Derek Blasberg's book at Barneys in New York City, it was a far safer choice. Nude pumps finished off the look.

Models are frequent guests at the annual Met Gala, and when she attended in 2010, Jessica opted for this plum Rachel Roy Fall 2010 gown. Bulgari was behind her vintage jewelry, while the clutch and heels were both by Jimmy Choo. Jessica's never been afraid of mixing high and low pieces. At the December 2010 5th Annual charity:ball in New York City, she wore a black Lanvin for H&M ruffle-accented dress paired with a Roger Vivier clutch and Azzedine Alaïa pumps.

She attended the 2011 Met Gala in a blush tulle strapless Tommy Hilfiger gown with a tiered full skirt. Chopard jewels, a Judith Leiber clutch, and Roger Vivier shoes completed the princess-style look. When it came time for this year's gala, Jessica and her darker mane went with an elaborate John Galliano for Christian Dior couture gown. Lorraine Schwartz gems polished off the look.

A daring red Valentino, which included lace accents and ruffles, was Jessica’s elegant pick for the American Ballet Theatre 2012 Spring Gala in New York City a week later. Valentino’s mini Va Va Voom bag, a silver cuff, and embellished peep-toes rounded out the look. Marchesa’s ivory cap sleeve dress with sequin neckline had Jessica standing out on the red carpet at the 40th Annual FiFi Awards in New York City late last month. She accessorized with a pair of black sandals.

At the 5th Annual Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic in Jersey City earlier this month, the model wore a unique Thom Browne Spring 2012 ensemble. Jessica combined a cropped white top with black trim and a black layered skirt. A striking Maison Michel mini straw and lace trilby hat with polka dot veil, a striped clutch, and black shoes with white cap-toe detail all served as accessories. Jessica accompanied Jason Wu to the 2012 CFDA Fashion Awards in New York City a couple days later. She wore a blue sleeveless gown with black lace underlay naturally created by the designer and styled the look with accessories by Roger Vivier, including a Retro Cerniera clutch and Sadale cage sandals.
