Nina Ricci’s creative director, Peter Copping, is working hard to revamp the brand’s image. Since accessories are the big sellers that keep most brands afloat, for Fall 2012 he’s putting special focus on the label’s new La Rue handbag. Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin shot the black-and-white ad campaign with model Kati Nescher, who is shown clutching the alligator skin version of the La Rue. Copping also brought on illustrator Jo Ratcliffe to collaborate on the campaign. In addition to creating pieces of art that will be displayed in Nina Ricci’s Paris and Dubai stores, Copping’s bright watercolor flowers adorn the brand's first Fall campaign image, creating an explosion of color as they appear to emerge from the luxury bag which encases them.
Charlieandmarie responded to Ratcliffe’s floral embellishment, saying: “I really love the collage aspect of the campaign and can't wait to see what else comes from it.”
“That is so beautiful,” wrote Psylocke. “You can always count on Nina Ricci delivering one of the best campaigns of the season. I don't find Kati's expression particularly appealing here but the concept and the composition are great. The only other complaint would be that you can not see what she's wearing. But still, a gorgeous image.”
Elfinkova described the image as “visually stunning! It might just turn out to be my favorite campaign this season,” he revealed.
The La Rue image above and other ready-to-wear campaign images will debut in the September issues of magazines like U.S. and U.K. Vogue, British Harper’s Bazaar, and Love magazine. If you want to get your hands on the La Rue bag, come September make your way to Harrods in London, Barneys and Neiman Marcus in New York, or to a Nina Ricci’s boutique in Paris or Dubai. It comes in a variety of materials like grained calf skin, snakeskin, and alligator.
