Twitterati Fashion Recap: Blake Ditches Karl, YSL Drops the Y, and Emma Stone on This Year's Best Vogue Cover

This week on #Twitterati, Blake Lively lands Gucci and says goodbye to Chanel, Hedi Slimane renames YSL, and Chuck Bass makes his catwalk debut. Keep reading for more of this week's most happening fashion moments, events, and quotes, according to Twitter's finest celebrities, top editors, and most-followed bloggers.

Apparently, Blake Lively isn't as loyal to Karl Lagerfeld as we all thought. Lively, who was not only named an official ambassador of Chanel in 2010 but also fronted the label's Mademoiselle bag campaign in 2011, has been known (in the past, that is) to show her allegiance to the French house via her fashion choices. Additionally, Lively has enjoyed a very close relationship with Lagerfeld himself, even attending last year's Met Ball on The Kaiser's arm. But like all celebrity relationships, this one has come to its end, and much sooner than we all expected. The cause?

Fashionologie tweeted that the Gossip Girl star has been named the "face of @Gucci's new fragrance Premiere." The fragrance's campaign will include black-and-white images, as well as a short film that will debut during the Venice Film Festival. While I'm positive that, like everything Blake touches and does, this campaign will be enviably stunning, the real question, as posed by Fashionista.com is "What do you think Karl Lagerfeld thinks about this news?" For Twitterati's sake, one can only hope Karl will vent on Twitter. As for Blake's sake, she can only hope that Frida Giannini makes for a great fashion friend.

Not to be outdone by Blake, the Gossip Girl guys were also in the news this week: WWD reported that Chace Crawford and Ed Westwick rocked Milan Fashion Week on Saturday. While Crawford sat front row during the Versace show, Westwick had a much more interactive experience.

The British actor, who is fronting Philipp Plein's 2013 sexy ad campaign, shot by Terry Richardson, made his runway debut during the show's #MFW presentation. Based on the overwelming Twitter responses, insiders and fashionistas alike are more than happy with Ed's foray into the modeling world. Nylon Magazine tweeted, "Monday just got better: Here is Ed Westwick / Chuck Bass modeling on a Milan catwalk." People Style Watch added, "Chuck Bass would sooo approve of this: Ed Westwick makes his catwalk debut."

Fashion Designer Rebecca Minkoff asked her #Minkettes, "were you impressed with Ed Westwick's runway debut ??" Who isn't loving the stach? Hopefully Chuck Bass embraces it as well.

YSL Drops the Y

Big changes are taking place at Yves Saint Laurent. Earlier this year the French house dropped Stefano Pilati for Hedi Slimane. Now, "Hedi Slimane is changing the name of Yves Saint Laurent. cc @YSL" (Fashionologie). While change is almost always good (and more important, necessary) in the ever mercurial fashion industry, this time most insiders like BellaSugar responded with nostalgia and adequate sadness, "Our minds are blown about the name change to Saint Laurent Paris. Love Hedi Slimane, but YSL without Yves? ." Others like the WSJ's Christina Binkley embraced the change, tweeting, "Smart move by YSL and Hedi Slimane to rebrand as Saint Laurent Paris. God rest, but Yves is gone and the brand moves on, clearly defined."

As for the mega-million-marketing question as posed by The Cut, "YSL losing the "Y" has us thinking...what's in a [brand] name?" Only time and quarterly profits will tell.

Emma Stone Lands Vogue's Best Cover?

Yes, Emma Stone is everywhere — and yes, we wouldn't have it any other way. And now, Stone's biggest fashion moment has come: she's landed a Vogue cover. Here is what fashion insiders have to say about Emma's debut:

The Fashion Spot tweeted a preview of the Vogue July cover adding, "Emma Stone on @VogueMagazine — "best Vogue cover this year?" http://bit.ly/K2R2HH @stonenobrien." Refinery29 agreed, tweeting, "We're calling it: Emma Stone's Vogue cover is one of 2012's best."

Apparently the same type of admiration goes for Stone's peers. Brooklyn Decker tweeted, "*thud* that is the sound of my jaw as it hits the floor at the sight of the new Vogue cover feat. Emma Stone. She's so darn likable." We couldn't agree more.
