August Street designer Ainsley Hansen is a sartorial mastermind. She knows what’s up when it comes to high quality clothes which are both cool and affordable, her campaigns always feature the coolest girls this side of the hemisphere and she’s now opening up shop on a prime slice of fast fashion real estate.
August Street’s e-boutique is now open for business and peddling the label’s Winter 2012 Navajo Dreaming collection, a range of softly tailored separates and loose dresses in muted earthy patterns. Urban Outfitters: this is how you pull off cultural appropriation.
Next out on the virtual shelves will be their Spring 2012 collection, Let Them Eat Cake. This time the brand has hooked the disgustingly gorgeous Penrith-raised model Krystal Glynn to front the campaign, which references the famous words commonly attributed to Marie Antoinette. If France’s ill-fated Queen had been into bib-and-brace overalls, these soft denim ones would be perfectly suited to frolicking in a Parisian field. For more ladylike pursuits, the collection offers iced pastels and lemon chiffon aplenty. The pièce de résistance of Navajo Dreaming also makes a reappearance tricked out in abstract florals.
