How Hip is Williamsburg, Really? Check Out These Brooklyn Street Style Snaps

While a blustery summer shower was to blame for its premature demise, the Grand Slam street fair in Williamsburg, Brooklyn this Sunday was certainly the place to be. Stylish students and supermodels alike (Erin Wasson and Sasha Pivovarova were both spotted amongst the crowd) converged to enjoy a bounty of local fare and fashion.

Head to Brooklyn if you're looking for some summer style inspiration —The Williamsburg crowd has the relaxed, earthy look down to a science, and loose-fitting garments are a key component. Everything from boyfriend jeans, denim cut-offs, slouchy shirt dresses, and blazers were pleasantly worn in, and were oftentimes accessorized with a simple pair of Ray-Bans and oxford flats. In addition to the oversized aspect, other trends noticed included the usage of bold solids, particularly electric blue and cherry red, in bags, dresses, and satin shirts. Polka dots were often a popular pattern as well.

Wide-legged? Boyfriend? Who cares! Opt for whatever fit feels right when you go out to purchase your next pair of jeans, especially thrifted ones. Jeans don't have to have a definitive shape or form to look effortlessly chic, as proven with the pair this girl is sporting.

It is sometimes difficult to dress for the months of June and July, as it can be sweltering one day and pouring rain the next. That's why citygoers have also adopted a minimalistic approach to summer dressing, using those bold reds, blues, and other poignant hues to pack a punch to an otherwise basic ensemble.
