Can you describe your style of hairdressing to us?

Edgy yet elegant, I adore hair and makeup that exudes femininity, clean lines, and classic beauty.

You own a salon and are constantly travelling, how do you keep your cool when things get hectic?

I take things one day at a time. You are correct in saying my schedule is busy, however, giving my ALL to each task at hand keeps me from feeling overwhelmed. Never one to procrastinate, I truly believe what I do today means that much more I can do tomorrow.

Do you have any words of advice for other young hairstylists/colourists who are looking to start up their own business?

Patience is key. It takes a while to build your business. Set your goals and as you reach them... because you will... set new goals.

What is one moment in your life that really stands out as a career changing moment? Why this particular moment?

Becoming an educator for RUSK allowed me to have opportunities to grow both personally and professionally. With travel to 5 continents and contact with tens of thousands of hairstylists... The global reach is astounding.

Why did you choose this profession?

I began cutting hair when I was eleven years old. I truly feel I was born to do hair and to share with others. Although I am trained to be a school teacher, can't bear the thought of not doing hair!

Where do you draw most of your inspiration from?

I NEVER get tired of doing hair... as a hair and makeup artist, making people look and feel beautiful is invigorating. As an educator, inspiring others to learn and grow is tremendously rewarding.

What has been your favourite era in hair styling?

I admire the bold, courageous women of the 1920s who cropped their hair into great bobs. I just completed a photo collection inspired by the 1920s... with a modern twist.

What is your favourite part of being a stylist?

Creating beauty in hair and makeup is a true art. I enjoy the creativity and the fact that ever day is new and different.

What is a product you're addicted to at the moment?

Healthy hair is always in style. A few drops of RUSK Deepshine Oil added to your favorite styling product or color formula will be sure to add shine.

Do you have any tips to prevent/overcome bad hair days?

It is essential to begin with great color and a cut that complements your texture. Once you have that, it should be easy. Go with the flow... let your hair tell you what it wants to do and work it with a smile!
