2012 Updos Part 3 - The Braid

Braids braids braids!! Braids are still IN for 2012 and this makes me the happiest girl alive. I love braids. I live in braids. I love everything about them. The different looks, shapes, the way the hair feels as it weaves around my fingers. The way it feels when someone else is braiding my hair. I absolutely cannot get enough of braids. Therefore I am MORE than ecstatic that they are still in and making a bigger statement than anyone would have ever thought. From fishtail to side braid, these little waved beauts will find a way onto your head and make it home. No matter what age you are the braid will always inspire a youthful fun feel to your look which no one can resist.

Side Braids:
Side braids are easy and fun to pull off. You can either make them loose, messy, slick or clean. No matter what mood you're in there's a side braid for you. Fist thing you need to do is gather all your hair to one side of your head. If you want it a little bit messy then apply hairspray before hand to give it that out-of-place feel, if you want it to look a little bit cleaner or sleeker then apply a smoothing serum and brush out your locks before engaging in the weave. Once you're ready then seperate your hair into 3 pieces and braid away. VoilĂ  a perfect, easy braid in less than 5 minutes.

Fishtails:
This braid made a strong statement in 2012 and is showing no signs of slowing down. This braid looks intricate and complex but in reality is quite simple to do once you get a hang of it! This braid is great for any formal event, or if you just want to add a unique twist to your everyday style depending on your mood! To do the fishtail you need to separate your hair into two pieces. Then you grab a lock of hair from the outer right side and cross it over onto the left. Repeat this process on the left side. Once you get to the bottom of your braid by doing these two steps over and over again feel free to add some accessories like little flower clips or a bow to give it that extra oomph it deserves.

French Braids:
Before this braid was reserved for young children, but now that isn't so. Many celebrities such like Kirsten Dunst, Rachel McAdams and many more have started adopting this cute hairstyle into their red carpet looks. The french braid really has grown up and evolved since I was a kid. Now to add a little bit of extra flair to your twist cross it over the top of your head, bunch it up into a bun, french braid your bangs across your head. There are so many alternatives you can do to your braid that keeps it looking fresh and fun.

There are a few braid ideas to keep you satisfied and inspire you to create your own look with this timeless updo. If braids aren't you thing then maybe check out our articles on ponytails or buns that are hot and trendy in 2012!
