Contessa Awards

The 2011 Contessa winners have been announced! All I can say is WOW! Every single stylist, colourist, photographer and makeup artist deserved it. The talent that runs through every single one of these talented ladies and gentlemen makes my jaw drop in awe. What they can do to hair something I have only ever seen in my wildest dreams.

Alberta Hairstylist
Wendy Belanger blew the judges away with her incredible twist to a native-esque theme. With all earthy tones like brown and dirty blonde. The hair featured here is intense and wild. The volume just adds to the insane structure of the hair.

Atlantic Hairstylist
Judy MacDonald displayed strong feminine characters with her hair styling. Drawing out facial features with her sharp cuts and out of the ordinary colours. The styling here is edgy and unique which takes a step into a more ultra-modern era.

Avant Garde Hairstylist
Palma Anshilevich took the place for best avant-garde stylist, and yes, she deserved it entirely. Her incorporation of hairpieces with her own style brought a real feel of passion to her unique style. The pieces which took on a dream-catcher type feel were not only aesthetically pleasing but just provided a next level wow factor.

Straight out of British Columbia, Chad Taylor brought a modern day twist to the classic feminine look. With sleek waves, asymmetrical cuts and crazy curled updo's Chad doesn't fear getting creative with the idea of feminine beauty.

Canadian Hairstylist/Canadian Salon Team/Quebec Stylist
The lady who won the Canadian Hairstylist Award was none other than Véronique Beaupré. Her stylish and down to earth cuts were the perfect style to persuade the judges to all fall in love with her styling. Her simple and intriguing styles showed diversity. The mirrors she used in her shoots showed off angles to the head which showed the subtle complexity behind each cut. (p.s. She Also left with the Quebec Stylist and Canadian Salon Team as well.)

Guylaine Martel/Photography By: Alain Comtois)

This years Elite Master goes to Guylaine Martel. Absolutely stunning is the only way I can describe his styling techniques. Everything from the hair, to the modes and photoshoot he presented are impeccable.

Reyn's out of this world hairstyles were exactly what were needed for her to bring home her award. Her funky colours and wild hairdo's are refreshing and stylish at the same time. Bringing style and fashion to the heart of Canada is what she was obviously born to do.
