The birds are coming back, you can smell the air coming alive with life again and the grass is starting to peak out from behind the melting snow. Yes, it is Spring again and how excited are we!? Too much so. This winter may have been a little bit mild compared to it's usual blustery self but I'm still happy that it's done and gone. I like change. Everyone needs change. This season it's all about changing colors. I don't mean from brown to blonde, or chestnut to amber. I mean really explore the rainbow. There are so many hues of color that no one ever tries to touch because "they're not natural." Well... this is 2012 and this is a great year for change so I say, come on kids, lets all do what our parents told us not to and dye our hair those unnatural and gawdy blues and purples!
One hue that I absolutely adore is the washed out California blue. Lady Gaga has the perfect color right here. It's sexy, it's toned down but it's still a head turner. This light blue reminds me of the ocean and in all honesty who doesn't want to be a little mermaid?!
I know doing the whole head is kind of extreme, so why not take a step back a look at Katy Perry's new locks. Going from bright pink, to shocking blue, to a nice blonde with pink roots, this is a nice subtle use of color which suits her in a very pleasant way. I adore the use of it up at the roots, it's very reverse '90's. (ha!)
Everyone goes to Rihanna's red hair as an example... but there's a good reason why. It's so vibrant! So alive! So... sexy... Her red hair raids your eyes and mind and just stays there. Whenever someone tells me they're going to dye their hair red I think Rihanna Red... and am always sorely disappointed when they come back with something a little more like an auburn. Go big or go home! It's so hot.
Kelly Osbourne has always been known to have strange colored hair ever since she was a little teen. This year though she found such a nice shade of purple I simply can't leave her out of this article. Her shade is so subtle, yet bold. It's such a lady like purple I can't take my eyes off it... It's hypnotic.
This was a very brave move on Nicki's part... but it worked out! (Minus the pink hood thing which kind of makes her look like a Candy Raver...) This color of green is actually quite splendid on the candid female rapper that is taking everyone by storm with her in-your-face lyrics and in-your-face booty. I quite like the color she chose. It matches her very bold and eccentric personality.
Colors aren't that scary when you play around with them. They can actually be really fun and bring out a whole new side of you that you didn't know you had. When it comes to color I think you all should just jump right on in and do it. Don't think twice about what your parent or friends will think. Do it because you want to. Best part is, if you don't like it, it's always super easy to dye over it.
