Summer Hairstyles for Long Hair

With spring right around the corner you know it's time to let your hair down and trade in those cute hats for some cute new summer hairstyles. This summer there are plenty of things you can do with your hair. Today we're going to focus on long hair for starters. One of my favourite things about the summer is having long, cascading hair that tumbles around my shoulders, or streams out behind me as I ride my bike down through the park, or even just tying it up into a high top knot when the sun really starts to get too hot.

Blake Lively is one girl who always has summer perfect hair no matter what season. This gorgeous blonde is a perfect example of wonderful style. Light waves that soften the face as opposed to harsh over straightened hair is a great 'do to try out. Blonde is always a good summer color, whether you go to a stylist and get it all redone blonde or just mist lemon juice in your hair before going out for a tanning session nothing says summer more than lighter colored hair. Blake's hair in this photo is absolutely stunning, with a great color and then the added touch of little braids twisting through it makes this a winning style.

Sun getting to you, making you feel a little all too hot? Never fear, take a page out of Kelli Garner's book and pull your hair up into a top knot. This cool summer style will keep you looking fresh all summer long. This is one of my favorite styles for the heat because it keeps your hair off the back of your neck which will help cool you down immensely. Also it keeps your hair from developing too much grease and sweat in it by rubbing against everything. Another added bonus is that when it turns to night you can undo your top knot and it will have created massive and messy volume in your long locks!

Another thing that screams summer is cute little fringes. Put a modern twist on Nico's hair. (The singer, famous for being one of Warhol's poster girls and her collaborations with The Velvet Underground, just in case you don't already know.) Add some lovey layers and feather your bangs to give them more of a feminine touch. This look works really well on most people so why don't you give it a shot?!
