Apparently “destruction is a beautiful version of freedom,” according to Tyler Shields, the creepy older photographer boyfriend (he’s 30, she’s 19) of Clint Eastwood’s daughter, Francesca Eastwood. Francesca, who stars in the new E! reality show Mrs. Eastwood and Company (which I have no intention of watching as I’d rather stick to the Kardashians – the devil I know) is the frequent muse of her provocateur boyfriend. The duo have now pissed off a whole slew of people by hacking away at a $100,000 red Crocodile Birkin VS with a chainsaw before setting the bag on fire, photographing the whole pursuit and passing it off as art.
The casual, almost mocking destruction of this super expensive bag is hard to stomach.
Can’t you just picture the stupid smirk he probably had on his face as he typed those words?? As far as publicity stunts go, it’s clear that Shields and Eastwood are getting what they want, seeing as nobody cares or has been talking about their dumb new reality show until now.
When all anyone can talk about is how bad the economy is, destroying something that costs more than most people make in a year is extremely insensitive. On top of the expense, the obliterated bag was also made of crocodile skin. If an animal was sacrificed to make the bag, then someone should at least be able to wear it. I can’t tell if Peta would be furious or happy about the destruction of this bag. Is it comparable to throwing red paint on a fur coat to destroy it and shame the wearer?
I won’t go so far as to say someone should take a chainsaw to these two "artists" then set them on fire, because in this case, giving them a taste of their own medicine would be far too sadistic, and stooping to their level holds no value. I would say we should all boycott Mrs. Eastwood and Company, but I feel like everyone’s doing that already anyway.
