I'm all about making New Years resolutions and this year I promised myself to experiment more with my hair apart from the casual curl. I've been sifting through different trendy updo's for 2012 and so far my resolution proves to be easier than I thought. 2012 is mostly about simplifying everything (thank goodness!) so that all you divas-on-the-run can still look glamorous while your on your early morning runs, coffee breaks, at work, picking up the dry cleaning and still finding time to hang out with your girl friends. This new year is going to be on of the best yet. I have a good feeling that good looks will be prominent throughout the new year and good spirits will only take those updo's to another level. Today we're going to focus on buns. So get your elastics and bobby pins out because we have a few cute buns that you can roll up and rock out with for the new year. The first thing we're going to take a look at today is the bun. The bun is making a strong comeback in 3 different forms. All are easy to maintain and look fabulous.
1. The Ballerina Bun. Which little girl DIDN'T want to be a ballerina, even for a split second, when she was little? Well, even if your parents didn't force you into the foot cracking, majestic dance when you could barely walk you can still pull off the look flawlessly. The Ballerina Bun is very simplistic and very complimentary to many different faces, and it takes approximately 30 seconds to do. Start off pulling your hair into a ponytail, then with your free hand wrap ALL your hair around that point. Secure tightly with elastic and bobby pins. If you have a fringe then this 'do looks extra cute with your bangs falling down out of it.
2. The Messy Bun. The messy bun is a classic. This bun never seems to go out of style because it is so simple and so sexy. If you have naturally curly or wavy hair then it's easier to do, If you're a straight haired lady then you have to bust out the curling iron. When you get out of the shower towel dry your hair, when it is dry then apply a heat protecting serum to your hair so that the heat from the curling iron doesn't damage your precious locks. Once that has set in then curl away. You don't need the curls to be perfect, just enough to add some volume. Once your hair has been curled then use two hands, gather your hair on either side and throw it up into a bun. The messy and relaxed way your tie it with the added volume will create a great effect. It doesn't matter if some pieces of your hair don't make it into the bun, it adds more oomph to the style. This carefree, yet glamorous style is perfect to add a touch of playfulness to your everyday look.
3. Chignons. Chignons are to absolutely to die for. This is one of my favourite types of buns and it always looks good whether you're going out on a date, for prom, a wedding, or just to work. A chignon is a low knot at the nape of the neck. There are many different ways you can make a chignon, whether its making two braids and wrapping them together and pinning them at the bottom of the neck, twisting a regular bun low, or whatever else takes your fancy. If you want to put a modern twist on the chignon then pull it to one side. This creates a new and edgy feel on the classic bun.
