People are already calling Rita Ora “the new Rihanna”—she’s sexy and edgy, and has even snagged some of Rihanna’s duet partners like Drake and Jay-Z. What’s more, it’s easy to spot similarities in their sometimes brash personal styling—Rihanna allegedly accused Rita of ripping off her lacy red gown from the EMAs. This accusation may have some clout when you look at the matchy-matchy slouchy suits that both R&B singers wore recently: at the launch of her latest album Unapologetic, Rihanna was unapologetic about her out-there outfit. She wore a very athletic-inspired leather suit by Damir Doma with chunky gold jewelry and a leather beanie. At the 2012 British Fashion Awards, Rita Ora arrived in a much more ladylike version by Stella McCartney featuring roomy white slacks and a 3/4 sleeve sweater. Which RiRi do you think pulled off the slouchy suit?

It’s a dress, no it’s pants… no it’s Christian Dior Couture. Two stars have been daring enough to try this inventive look lately. At the London Evening Standard Theatre Awards, Ruth Wilson wore a hot pink version with a corset top and a sheer panel at the bodice. The central slit revealed tailored black pants and she accessorized with a chunky cuff and mismatched red lips. Melanie Laurent hit the red carpet at the Touch of Light premiere during the Marrakech International Film Festival wearing a version in which the contrast between the dress and pants was more subtle. The midnight blue corset top cascaded into a tulle skirt and the French actress kept accessories to a minimum. Judging by these photos, this seems like a look where you have to keep your hands in your pockets to maximize the effect. Which actress nailed this statement?

Stella McCartney loves fringe, and stars love Stella McCartney. Kylie Minogue wore a canary yellow brocade dress with fringe pouring from the halter necklince and down the sides. While signing copies of her new book Kylie/Fashion in London, the singer added a pop of contrasting color with red nails and elongated her legs with nude pumps. Salma Hayek also tried the trend, showing off her fringed LBD with a twirl on the red carpet at the British Fashion Awards. Her number worked this season’s pairing of black and navy blue, and she set it off with pink lips. Whose fringe was more fun?

When in doubt, go for short and geometric. That’s what Kelly Rowland and Stacy Keibler decided at the AMAs in two startlingly similar dresses with cap sleeves and funky designs, we thought for sure they had to be from the same designer. Suprisingly, Rowland’s mosaic-patterned dress is by Naeem Kahn, while Keibler’s embellished dress is from Collette Dinnigan. Whose look rocked?
