Gryson is known for chic, versatile contemporary handbag collections and now, for the first time, you can buy the brand's various collections all under one roof in their newly opened TriBeCa boutique. I met designer Joy Gryson at the sun-drenched brick-walled space where she gave me the dish on her new boutique.
Boutique: By Joy Gryson
Location: 106 Franklin street in TriBeCa
Owner: Joy and Peter Gryson
Launch date: September 2012
Store concept: All brands designed by Joy Gryson under one roof: Gryson, Olivia Harris, and IIIBeCa by Joy Gryson.
Specializing in: Leather accessories
Best sellers: IIIBeCa Duane Street Messenger, Ruby Gryson bag in deep purple, Hendrix Cross
Body from Olivia Harris.
Typical customer: TriBeCa woman
Store aesthetic: Downtown loft cool with hint of vintage beach/country vibe.
Most unique items: Olivia Harris Hunger Group bags, IIIBeCa Beach Street Travel Kit, OH Tech wallets.
Inspiration for opening the boutique: To have a more direct conversation with our customers; selling our brand through a department store channel is not an easy way to establish a meaningful relationship with our customer base.
Listening to: Arcade Fire, old Pixies, Editors, and Snow Patrol.
The staff is talking about: The holidays, travel plans, decorating the store.
If I didn¹t run the boutique, I¹d be: Still designing away, but not nearly as personal of an experience.
In my free time, you¹ll find me: Hanging out with my daughter, the coolest chick in the triangle below Canal!
