Oscar De La Renta and Cathy Horyn Kiss and Make Up

I'm not sorry to have to report the news that Oscar de la Renta and Cathy Horyn have kissed, made up, and moved on from the meat feud which bloodied (sry) NYFW Spring 2013. We'll always have the memories.

If you don't remember what happened, here it is in two sentences: After becoming offended by several perceived slights (including a reference to the designer as a "hot dog") to his work and reputation in fashion critic Cathy Horyn's New York Times column, Oscar de la Renta took out an ad in WWD's print edition, calling Horyn a "stale three-day-old hamburger." (That's the quote of the fashion year!*) Cue uproar, both parties elaborating on their statements in not entirely helpful ways, and new [Yves] Saint Laurent designer Hedi Slimane getting himself tangled in the crosshairs by calling the fashion writer a "schoolyard bully" (among other things) on Twitter.

These meatscapades were fun (I guess?) while they lasted, but we shouldn't count on any future protein-rich name-calling. Horyn sat front row at the designer's Pre-Fall show yesterday, wearing an Oscar de la Renta dress. According to WWD, she even popped in backstage before the show, to wish the American designer luck. "I read every single article she writes on fashion," said ODLR, in another astonishing display of maturity. Look at that, people can change.

* I know that parenthetical makes it three sentences. Hate me, it's fine.
