We take a look at more of this season's standout Pre-Fall 2013 shows from Chado Ralph Rucci, Ports 1961, Proenza Schouler, and Zac Posen. For past coverage click here, here, here, here, and here.
It’s too bad that Vera Wang’s Pre-Fall collection isn’t for sale right now because it was brimming with cocktail–ready attire perfect for holiday bashes. Lots of textured fabrics, long gloves, fur, and opulent jewelry made for a parade of swanky dressy separates and dresses, most of which were done in a dark palette.
Chado Ralph Rucci showed a structured collection – even when he played with volume – for a streamlined collection of understated black and blue daywear pieces that will surely appeal to his discerning ladies who lunch demo.
Loose silhouettes done in both neutral solids and graphic prints made for a slew of fantastic pieces from Proenza Schouler — notably, ankle-length trousers, leather jackets, and day dresses cinched at the waist with obi-style leather belts. Oversized print clutches and checkered shoes rounded out the collection with covetable accessories.
With the exception of a few sculpted coats, this season’s Ports 1961 was a structured and straight-lined lineup of day and eveningwear. Many of the cuts veered on the boxy side, but were finished with nipped and rounded shoulders to give the collection a wearable feel.
For after-dark glamour, look no further than Zac Posen’s Spanish-tinged Pre-Fall collection. Plenty of floor-sweeping gowns with dramatic off-the-shoulder silhouettes and long trains made for attention grabbing looks that remained tasteful thanks to their lack of elaborate embellishments.
