The weekend when the much-anticipated X Factor returned to British TV screens with a new judging panel consisting of pop stars Tulisa Contostavlos, Gary Barlow, Nicole Scherzinger and industry insider Louis Walsh, boy were we excitied to see what talent this year would have to offer. The X Factor has proved to be a great way to find undiscovered talent, but if you cast your mind just a couple of years back, to when Cheryl Cole and Dannii Minogue fronted the panel, you’ll quickly remember that we were dying to tune in every Saturday night for a totally different reason — for the dress-offs between the pair, of course! Each Saturday the excitement built amongst the nation regarding what they would wear and which of two would look best. Most often, it was Dannii who won, looking dazzling in an array of couture gowns and sought-after pieces by the like of designers like Victoria Beckham. She seemed to be putting a lot of effort in (you could tell because she had a new haircut every week), and it paid off.

The New Judges' Styles
Since the Cheryl and Dannii days however, the show has unfortunately become a lot less stylish. When we heard that Nicole Scherzinger was joining the panel this year, we breathed a sigh of relief and hoped that she’d up the style stakes and make the X Factor a fashionable must again. So far though, her fashion choices aren't quite at Cheryl and Dannii's level, but if the structured white dress which she wore on the show's photo call is anything to go by, she's definitely on her way! We’re so going to tune in each week and watch her style evolution. Tulisa's style (pictured above with Nicole) still needs a lot of work, judging by that striped body-con dress. Tulisa should take a leaf out of Dannii's book (above, right), and learn how to work an elegant look.
