The Olympic Games has consumed Londoners’ daily lives for so long, that there’s no doubt that it’s going to be difficult to get back into the swing of our old boring routines now that all of the excitement has finally fizzled away. On the brighter side, it’ll be nice to get to work on time again; something which seems like a distant memory these days!
The climax of the games finally came to an end yesterday with a closing ceremony celebrating British music. Not quite as breathtaking as the opening ceremony, headlining guests such as the Spice Girls and Oasis (or Beady Eye, as a solo Liam sans Noel now likes to be called) made for a can't-miss event.
Our eyes were not only fixed on the Spice Girls trying to channel their old stereotypical costumes, but most excitably upon the surprise British fashion model section including iconic supermodels Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell, as well as Lily Cole, Lily Donaldson, Karen Elson, Jourdan Dunn, Georgia May Jagger, and Stella Tennant. Most important was the fact that they all strutted their stuff across the stage whilst wearing pieces by the very best of British fashion designers, which included Christopher Kane, Burberry, Alexander McQueen, Victoria Beckham, Paul Smith, Jonathan Saunders, Erdem, and Vivienne Westwood’s Gold label. A fashion show to beat all British fashion shows!
Of course, the media’s attention was also on Kate Middleton who attended the ceremony with Prince Harry as William was away on duty. She opted for one of Whistle’s last season blue, white, and purple dresses which she also wore for the Diamond Jubilee concert in June. It also seems that although the Spice Girls tweeted that they partied the night away until 6 AM this morning with Liam Gallagher, maybe Kate Middleton had an early night as tFS spotted her looking every inch the princess and totally fresh faced whilst playing with her dog in Kensington Gardens this afternoon. (No, you don’t have to go to an international event just to spot the Duchess!)
