Milan Fashion Week has come to a close and models are already stomping down Parisian runways, but forum members still have a thing or two to say about what the city's designers had to offer. From the return of Jil Sander to her eponymous label to another Sicilian style overload at Dolce & Gabbana, here are their picks for Milan’s highs and lows in the latter portion of Fashion Week.
The Hits: Fendi, Jil Sander, Marni
Fendi
“Oh, this is amazing! It's what I've been waiting for! I love how the collection evolves with each piece until reaching a climax – not necessarily being the sequined peplum number that closed the show, for me it was the yellow graphic printed pieces, easily the best parts of whole show. The construction and tailoring on this are amazing. And those shoes!” [StoneSkipper]
“I saw it in the livestream and was shocked by how much I liked it. The accessories and the shoes are to die for. Love that bag in bag thing and the cubic clutches and all those geometric elements. The use of leather is insanely good, the color palette is fun and the styling and makeup were beautiful…This is the most innovative and creative collection I've seen from any of the big designers showing in Milan in quite a while! I'm a huge fan of this!” [Psylocke]
“Best Fendi collection in while. This is just beautiful! Wonderful colors, shapes, styling, and variety of pieces. But what I love the most is how it's unmistakably luxurious, and not just skins and furs, but the execution and finish. Bravo!” [VogueDisciple93]

Jil Sander
“This is incredible. What's interesting though is that she didn't hit the reset button. This could easily be by Raf Simons, which goes to show how good a fit he was for the house, but it also feels very fresh and modern. A strangely nice follow-up from last season, if that makes sense. It's a nice progression. The shapes and volumes were really just perfect. A flawless collection!” [TianCouture]
“You could see from a mile away that the quality was absolutely incredible, really beautiful clothing without any gimmicks just absolute excellence.” [Crying Diamonds]
“I think this is absolutely sublime. To me it really feels like she's carrying over some of the ideas utilized with her +J line but on a bigger, higher quality scale. I said it before and I'll say it again, this with the return of Veronique Branquinho in a couple weeks, it's nice to see some quiet making its way back in fashion again.” [Scott]

Marni
“Wow!!! So impressed this season here at Marni! I've always liked Marni, but never to any degree where I would consider it a favorite show of the season, but this definitely has got me excited! The colors are fantastic. I love the long-waisted silhouettes. Everything here just looks complete and nothing looks extraneous. And it also adds an extra oomph here to see every girl looking her best – such fantastic hair and makeup!” [dior_couture1245]
“This is amazing! Though Marni is known for its prints, the minimal solid looks were the standouts here. Those white dresses are divine. The rest of the collection was great, but those minimal looks blew me away.” [VogueDisciple93]
“Yeah!! Finally a stellar Marni collection... Definitely the best hair, makeup and accessories collection of MFW.” [Lena]

The Misses: Dolce & Gabbana, C’N’C Costume National, Antonio Marras
Dolce & Gabbana
“I'm sorry, did I just see a basket walk down the runway? That is, just behind a sack... with sleeves? And whoa at the 60s Roman fresco print. That has to top the chart of worst Dolce & Gabbana shows ever.” [Crying Diamonds]
“I actually do not hate this in its entirety. What I do hate however, is the clear lack of creativity. We keep seeing the same silhouettes, can we change it up already? Lastly, the clear lack of inspiration. I thought the Sicilian thing would die a quick death but they continue to squeeze whatever life still exists in it. It's utter laziness to be quite honest.” [kiki09]
“WTF!??? MORE SICILY????” [Excentrique]

C’N’C Costume National
“C'N'C is usually one of my favorites out of all the Milan shows because it's always young, fresh, cool and sexy minus all the tackiness of most other collections at MFW. But this isn't very exciting. It's unsexy and a lot of it looks cheap, probably because if that horrible shiny fabric. The color palette is extremely depressing. Some of those looks would have worked much better with stronger colors… This falls really flat for me, it's very forgettable.” [Psylocke]
“Something about it does seem drab, and I don't think it's just that olive color.” [Not Plain Jane]
“So disappointing.” [Gooner 4 Lyfe]
Antonio Marras
“I'm just very confused by this collection. It looks so contrived and weird; it lacks the natural romantic vibe of his collections. Not a fan of the sugary sweet color palette either, he's done collections with those colors where they were much better suited and nicely done, but here they're quite awkward. The collection is not quite as disappointing as the last few seasons but I still find this quite uninspired, incoherent and even cheesy in some parts. Some beautiful details in the close-ups, though. But the shoes are tacky.” [Psylocke]
“It feels a little forced and there's no poetry or emotion in it at all.” [Scott]
“Marras has been so disappointing lately. Where's the romanticism found in his older collections? Ever since he left Kenzo, things haven't been going well... Heavy, drowning in detail, awkward juxtaposition of elements.” [Uemarasan]
