Without fail, Dean and Dan Caten always put on a show, which more often than not results in over-the-top looks that could never be worn as styled on the runway. When taken apart, however, there is much to love in most of what the design duo creates. This season, DSquared2's collection was an ode to the nineties — the crazy, excessive nineties.
With a mix of 90s Chanel (think heavily layered jewelry and quilted fabric), Versace (think lots of gold, chain mail, and barely-there leather looks), and Moschino (think heart embellishments and logo tees), the duo delivered a collection that was pure unadulterated fun. Silhouettes were tight and shrunken, with nearly every look exposing more skin than would be appropriate in most situations.
Despite the outlandish styling and the teeny tiny silhouettes, fitted leather jackets, ruffled hemmed tops, and monochrome micro minis held wearable appeal and it's hard not to want to go out with 10 pounds worth of gold chains and pearls after taking in the show.
