Modern and wearable, this season's Missoni collection was one of the brand's freshest to date as Angela Missoni stepped away from showing a parade of prints. The designer played with sheer embellished fabrics, degrade colors, and layering to achieve visual interest. While silhouettes veered mostly towards the loosely draped, there were a few fitted pieces in the mix. Angela Missioni noted that she was inspired by a sixties photograph for her collection, an inspiration that was most noticeable in the mod dresses, bodysuits, and underwear-style bottoms she opted to show.
Knits, as they usually do, played a key role and made for some beautiful brightly colored lightweight separates and printed organza layered over coordinately printed knit dresses. It's great to see that a brand that has been around for nearly 60 years has the guts to move forward and experiment a bit, while staying true to its roots. It's even better to see it when a brand does so successfully.
