The Quiff: K

Fashion is a way of expression - and certainly, so are hairstyles.

Hairstyles seem to have a mind of its own and often look like a separate living thing from the body altogether - sometimes to the extent they can defy gravity.

For such an instance, the "Quiff" hairstyle comes into mind.

More notably, in the english-speaking music scene, it has been sported on popular celebrities like Zayn Malik of One Direction, Alex Turner of Arctic Monkeys, Bruno Mars, Macklemore (the list goes on) and music legend Elvis Presley.

The "Quiff" proves itself to have stood the test of time by making a strong comeback.

According to Wikipedia, "the hairstyle combines the 1950s pompadour hairstyle, the 50s flattop, and sometimes a mohawk".

It was also ubiquitous during the "Teddy Boy" times (a British subculture) in the 1950s and needless to say, is also experiencing a sudden boom in popularity in recent times.

Albeit a hairstyle that is perhaps not the most practical for day-to-day looks or vigorous K-Pop dance performances, the "Quiff" nonetheless works wonderfully for instances like magazine shoots.

The "Quiff" hairstyle on EXO's D.O translates to a very sophisticated, uber chic look - a side of D.O we hardly get to see.

K-Pop artists are always sporting a different kind of hairstyle, even to the extent of changing the color or length every other day just to keep up a hip, trendy image.

The kinds of hairstyles in the K-Pop industry are extensive and out-of-this-world - even in a class of its own. Hairstyles in K-Pop continue to draw inspiration from the past while being cleverly modernized and reinvigorated.

The Quiff hairstyle is attainable by a good haircut, keeping the hair at the sides and back short with most hair at the top. Also, not forgetting a good dose of hair gel, hair-blowing techniques and intense ruffling to ensure one looks as effortlessly charming as these K-Idols.

To the layman, the Quiff hairstyle may also be termed "side-swept", "front-swept" or anything, really - but it sure sweeps one off their feet.
