Trendy hairstyles for him and her (Valentine's Day special)

Valentine's Day is just around the corner and couples are gearing up to spend the day in style. If you too are planning to woo your partner, you can start by looking special for them. Often, we decide what to wear but get stuck when it comes to styling the hair. Makeover expert Aashmeen Munjaal explains how to style your hair in a trendy way which will charm your better-half on Valentine's Day. Here's a list of cool hair-dos for both men and women. Angelic curls: Wrap your hair in curling barrels in outer upward direction for at least two hours and then open it up. There is a shorter route too: Just wrap up your hair and blow-dry them.

Braids: Popular ones include the braid crown, in which a thick braid is wrapped around the crown of the head and the fishtail braid intertwining with neutral coloured ribbons, creating a fun yet sleek and subtle twist. For loose braids, straighten your hair, remove all tangles, apply hair mousse and leave it for an hour. Divide your hair in different sections and make a loose French braid. To accessorise, you can go for tiaras, floral clips or pearls keeping in mind your attire.

One side sweep: Tangle free your hair and give it a clean left side sweep. Accessorise it with cupid tiaras and fancy net hair accessories. It is also important to comb your hair the right way to prevent hair loss. So make sure you use a good comb while styling.

Windswept up-dos: This look is both casual and dishevelled yet oozes subtle glamour and charm. For those who are a fan of up-dos, it is recommended letting plenty of loose locks fall around the face, when pinning hair up.

Close razor short crop: This style involves a crew cut on the sides while leaving some length on the crown with lots of texture to play with. Simple styling products such as setting gels and waxes may be used. Indian men should restrict themselves from going blonde as experts say it does not go well with the skintone.

The Great Gatsby Style: Static buzz cuts are no longer on trend - slightly long hair, which can be tousled, swept to the side or slicked back in a 'Great Gatsby' style is in!

Gelled and combed back look: Saif was seen sporting this suave look in his post wedding pictures with wife Kareena Kapoor. This is the easiest of them all and timelessly fashionable. Just get a little pomade (greasy hair product for gloss) and slick it back.

Straight Shag: This involves medium length hair and is ideal for men with strong jaw lines. Shahid has been seen rocking this style for quite sometime now. The cut comprises long hair in the front and medium layers at the back. This cut can soften that alpha male jaw while giving you a dapper look. An anti-frizz serum is all that one needs to maintain the look.

Gelled-up, dapper do: Popularised by cricketer Virat Kohli, this is an edgy style for the short haired gentleman. It is a vintage look with a side parting. It is easy to achieve this. All one needs, is a bit of mousse and gel.
