Jordan Askill Creates a Fiercely Feminine Capsule Collection for Topshop

Topshop has found its latest designer gem in Aussie-born, London-based jeweller extraordinaire Jordan Askill. Amidst being nominated for a British Fashion Award, winning an Elle Style one, having Bond girls parade his fine craft down the red carpet, and creating a slew of short films and art sculptures, Askill has designed a seven-piece capsule collection of wallet-friendly trinkets for the British retail behemoth.

The collection was inspired by a trip he took to Egypt three years ago, playing up the designer’s attraction to sculptural pieces and fantastical creatures. This time it’s a majestic panther carefully scaled down to form the centerpiece of the collection, its raw chiseled head protruding from the gold and silver-plated brass. In an interview with Topshop, Askill says the team was supportive of his ideas and his style of craft, “particularly when it came to attention to detail and quality.”

That attention to detail is further evident in the kitschy-cute charms dangling from cuffs, charm bracelets, and three-dimensional pendant necklaces. Askill wanted to make the capsule not only classic but personal: “Each piece is precious like a locket with detachable pendants that you can keep with you or pass on to your friends.”

The collaboration puts Askill among the ranks of Mary Katrantzou, Christopher Kane, and J.W. Anderson, who have all had their artistry confirmed in recent years through being plucked by the discerning hand of Topshop.

Jordan Askill x Topshop is up online now, and lands in stores at the end of the month.
