If We Were the Stylist, Ashley Greenes Sleeves Would Be Slightly Shorter (& Other Celeb Style Fixes)

Do you ever see a pic of a celeb looking like a hot mess and wonder how, with all of the stylists, designers, makeup artists, and Hunger Games-style prep teams behind this girl, did this happen? Us too. That’s why we’ve created a game where we get to reimagine celeb style snafus—if only we were their stylists.

  • What's Up Your Sleeve, Ashley Greene?

Oh wait, we can all see what’s up her sleeve, because even though the bell sleeve on her Wes Gordon top was comically oversized, it was made of lace. Too bad, because otherwise they might’ve served as nice hand-warmers. There’s no question why she’s not carrying a clutch with this look—it probably wouldn’t have been possible. I think I’ve seen a similar sleeve style on Johnny Depp in one of his many eccentric fop roles, or else I’m just experiencing déjà vu because this whole “barely wearing a top and getting away with it” thing is getting a little old…

  • Kristen Ritter Also Attacked by Bell Sleeves

… but perhaps not as old as the “barely wearing a skirt and getting away with it” thing. It’s winter, I know your legs are cold and you’d rather just be wearing an entire skirt. And don’t try telling me that bell sleeves are becoming a trend! I appreciate the baroque nod of Kristen Ritter’s Dolce & Gabbana top and skirt, but nothing else about this works for me.

  • Lara Bingle's Nod to the Season

Admittedly, it must be difficult to dress for the Cleo Annual Swim Party which is held in November, but that uncertainty was a little too clear in Lara Bingle’s ensemble. Her summery white and gold Josh Goot dress would’ve been fine with some sandals (it could’ve even passed for a winter white), but paired with these thigh-high black leather boots the look is too disjointed.

  • Elle Fanning, Space Woman

I love Elle Fanning’s adventurousness when it comes to personal style, especially because she’s only 14 (an age where my style mantra was, “If it’s Abercrombie, I’ll wear it.”) But at the Breaking Dawn Part 2 premiere, she looked a bit like she walked off the set of a movie set in 2099. Her silk Prada two-piece is actually pretty cool, but paired with those moon boots and that eerie sense of Fanning genetic perfection, it’s sort of overkill.

  • Rashida Jones Parties With the Boys

At the GQ Men of the Year party, Rashida Jones dressed like the man of the year. It’s refreshing that she didn’t play the “look at me, boys” game in a skimpy outfit like a lot of the other female attendants did, but there are just a few things off about this suit. It would’ve worked if she had paired her Boy. by Band of Outsiders blazer with leather lapels and embellished Marni Resort 2013 blouse with something less frumpy, because those Giorgio Armani silk shorts ruin this look. They need to be either shorter or more high-waisted, because they cut her lower half off in an unfortunately dumpy way.

  • Ke$ha is Big Pimpin'

Ke$ha stopped by the Z100 Morning Show looking like Snoop Doog reprising his role in Starsky & Hutch. No complaints about her scalloped suit—which wouldn’t have been out of place on Florence Welch—or even that she wore another print under it, but the addition of the leopard creepers (her feet can’t actually be that clown-sized, right?), large round sunglasses, and floppy hat was too much. And now that I think of it, totally Ke$ha.
