Maybe it’s our country’s obsession with buying clothes on the Internet, but LA-based e-tailer Nasty Gal seems to have a thing for Australian models. In August it was Anja Konstantinova taking the American desert by storm in full-on sequins and cropped crochet, and for October they’ve nabbed Rachel Rutt and clothed her in an equally formidable amount of sparkle and texture.
‘In Stereo’ is heavy on the Almost Famous style shag coats and matchy prints, with the omnipresent sequins, studs, and hazardous platform shoes cropping up throughout. The exclusive prints for October include houndstooth, polka dots, and amped up florals. Like always, the best way to wear these is to wear as many of them as possible all at one time, because if you’re not breaking any sartorial guidelines then you’re probably not doing this right.
But for the 99% who maybe don’t have gams à la Rutt there are plenty of buzzy accessories to get tricked out in. The Chomp 2.0 Cap with acrylic cross “eyes” and silver spike “teeth” is potentially even more eye-catching than head-to-toe houndstooth, and circular 60s frames are so good you’ll want be wanting to stack on multiple pairs at once. Ostentatious leather fringing never looked like such appropriate poolside attire.
