Do you ever see a pic of a celeb looking like a hot mess and wonder, with all of the stylists, designers, makeup artists and Hunger Games-style prep teams behind this girl, how did this happen? Us too. That’s why we’ve created a new game where we re-imagine celeb style snafus—if only we were their stylists.
The menswear trend has taken off, leaving every red carpet-bound celeb with a choice—to wear a dress or a suit? At The Perks of Being a Wallflower gala screening in London, Emma Watson evidently couldn’t choose between the two. She ruined what would’ve been a perfect black Dior mini-dress by wearing a pair of trousers (which admittedly would’ve been quite chic with something else on top) underneath. We’d love to see the young actress show off her legs in the dress, or go a bit more mature in a sleek pantsuit—just not at the same time.

Rihanna rolled out of bed just in time to make it to the grand opening of 40/40 Club in Brooklyn—or that’s the impression she gave in her shlumpy pajama-inspired suit. Now RiRi’s PJ’s are from the Acne Resort 2013 collections, and pajama dressing has been an under-the-radar trend for a while now—and we can definitely see someone like Solange Knowles rocking this look—but Rihanna needed to elevate this just a bit more. Her Manolo Blahniks helped, but simply buttoning the top all the way or wearing the pants at the waist would’ve convinced us that wearing pajamas out is a viable fashion statement.

Maggie Gyllenhaal is known for picking controversial pieces for the red carpet, and the Lanvin Spring 2013 two-tone dress she wore to the Won’t Back Down NYC premiere definitely falls into that category. The colorblocking is interesting and on-trend, but the dress’ too-long train drowns her—especially because she’s wearing flip-flop-esque flat sandals. A heel—maybe even in a third color to take the colorblocking theme a step further—would’ve given the actress’ look a lift.

While filming Kourtney & Kim Take Miami, Kourtney Kardashian stepped out in an outfit that made her look not just like a mom, but like a grandma, too. We love the print of the Mediterranean mumu—which is acceptable given that she’s in Miami—but the addition of the oversized glasses and turban took this to the batty old lady level. If the Kardashian lost the Grey Gardens accessories and gave the dress some shape with a tan leather belt that matched her gladiator heels, this could be a beachy, Jennifer Lopez-ish look.

Not to be outdone by her sister, Kim Kardashian wore an out-there outfit while shopping in Miami and looked like she needed our help as well. Kim is queen of the peplums, a look that’s usually very flattering on her—however, this structured grey suit was anything but. Our first styling tip would be to get this bodacious babe a bra that fits; the lines up top look uncomfortable. Second, we’d love it if those shorts were swapped for a well-tailored pencil skirt. Lose the boots and we might swoon.

We’re not sure if the Hussein Chalayan dress that Vampire Diaries actress Kat Graham wore to the Environmental Media Awards was confused, or we just were. It looks like a metallic wiggle dress shedding its nude sheath cocoon—think business casual on the outside, Y2K-era raver on the inside. Better yet, with those incongruous platform shoes, think again…and find a whole ‘nother outfit, Kat.
