Gorman x Rhys Lee: Kooky Surrealism For Your Wardrobe

Crucial to any artistic collaboration is a mutual love of each other’s work. Makes sense then that Lisa Gorman would team up with artist and long-time friend Rhys Lee for a limited-edition range of sweet dresses and separates, showcasing his otherworldly prints and her intrinsic understanding of what looks good on us humans of the homogametic sex.

The Rhys Lee x Gorman capsule collection hit stores this month, and if you appreciate graphic prints and flattering cuts as much as any self-respecting female you’ll be all over this one. The 21-piece collection features six of Lee’s colourful prints. Slouchy dresses and onesies are hit with fat brushstrokes of earthy watercolours, rainbow droplets are intricately beaded on a georgette spaghetti top, and abstract hand prints and Horton-style elephants evidence Lee’s kookiness rather than his attraction to the vaguely grotesque.

Lisa Gorman launched her eponymous label back in 1999 so she knows what’s up when it comes to cutting a good shift, shirt, or pair of pants. The capsule collection is available online and in stores, with printed tanks starting at $69 and nothing priced over $369. There’s even a Rhys Lee tea towel pack guaranteed to make even drying fry pans an otherworldly experience, if you can bear to put such beautiful fabrics anywhere in the vicinity of bacon grease.
